Anti-Phospholipase A2 Receptor

8 Day(s)

Reference Range

Lipase is a key enzyme in lipid digestion which hydrolyzes ester linkages between triglyceride residues. It is mainly secreted by the pancreas and elevated levels are seen in acute pancreatitis (this rise is parallel to that of amylase but high levels are sustained for a longer period). Its levels also rise, but to a lesser extent in chronic pancreatitis, lithiasis, pancreatic carcinoma, peritonitis and alcoholism. Lipase activity is practically absent in the urine of healthy subjects with normal glomerular function. See Amylase, Serum
