3-alpha-Androstanediol Glucuronide is a major metabolite of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and has a strong androgenic activity estimated at 75% of the bioactivity of testosterone. Measurement of 3-a-Androstanediol Glucuronide may be useful in the clinical evaluation and management of hirsutism and other conditions with excessive adrenal androgen production. Elevated levels have been reported in congenital adrenal hyperplasia and in various forms of female hirsutism.
