Reference Range

Eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) is a toxin secreted by activated human eosinophils that has anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, and neurotoxic activities. ECP has proven to be useful in monitoring many active inflammatory diseases. It has shown value for assessing asthma severity, monitoring therapy, and indicating the severity of certain inflammatory skin conditions. HIGH levels of ECP in the blood are a marker for inflammatory reactions, and mostly associated with asthma.
