Acid Phosphatase, Prostatic, Serum

6 Day(s)

المجموعة المرجعية

Prostatic acid phosphatase is an enzyme produced by the prostate gland and which may be found in small amounts in serum. This test is usually performed to determine the health of the prostate gland, since prostate dysfunction results in the release of prostatic acid phosphatase into the blood. HIGH levels of Acid phosphatase are mainly found in metastasized prostate cancer, but it can also be associated with testicular cancer, leukemia, as well as non-cancerous conditions such as Gaucher’s disease, Paget’s disease, osteoporosis, hyperparathyroidism, and cirrhosis of the liver.
