Actin Antibodies are a subgroup of Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibodies (ASMA). These antibodies react with smooth muscle tissue. Their presence is a marker for chronic active hepatitis, and is also associated with autoimmune hepatitis, and primary biliary cirrhosis. Actin Antibodies are considered more specific for autoimmune liver disease than ASMA. See Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibodies, Serum
