Fructosamine, Serum

25 Day(s)

المجموعة المرجعية

Plasma fructosamine results from the glycosylation of plasma proteins and its concentration gives an indirect measure of blood glucose levels over the 2 to 3 weeks before the blood was drawn. This differs from the A1C fraction of glycosylated hemoglobin (Hemoglobin A1C) which reflects the glucose level over the preceding 4 to 8 weeks). This parameter can be used to assess intermediate-term diabetic control. Fructosamine levels are not affected by the presence of abnormal hemoglobin.

متطلبات خاصة

Avoid haemolysed samples. High levels of ascorbic acid interfere with the fructosamine assay. Patients should abstain from ascorbic acid supplements for a minimum of 24 Hrs prior to sample collection.
