IgA antibodies are found in secretions where they play a central role in defense against external threats. REDUCED levels can be due to a common congenital deficiency (1/700 of the general population), secondary to certain disorders (IgG myeloma and lymphoma) or in response to certain drugs. HIGH levels of polyclonal IgA are observed locally in infections and other pathologies involving the skin, the airways, the gastrointestinal tract and the genitourinary mucosae. VERY HIGH levels of monoclonal IgA are associated with IgA myeloma, benign blood globulin disorders in elderly patients and certain severe infectious diseases.
preferably Refrigerated
