Food allergy encompasses a range of disorders that result from adverse immune responses to dietary antigens. This test detects the amount of IgE that reacts specifically with suspected or known allergens (Radioallergosorbent testing – RAST), and is helpful in the early diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic diseases. A RISE in the IgE level is noticed with Atopic allergic conditions such as asthma, allergic rhino-conjunctivitis, or atopic eczema.
