INCREASED uric acid levels in urine may be due to cancers that have spread (metastasized), disorders that affect the bone marrow or certain white blood cells, high-purine diet, gout, Rhabdomyolysis, Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, Fanconi syndrome, and Wilson’s disease. While LOWER than normal uric acid levels in the urine may be due to long-term alcohol use, chronic glomerulonephritis, lead poisoning, and folic acid deficiency. See Uric Acid, Serum

State 24 Hrs urine volume. Do not refrigerate. Add NaOH to keep urine pH alkaline (8.0) to prevent uric acid precipitation.
