X/Y chromosomes determination is useful in the sex assignment of a new-born with ambiguous genitalia (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia), the diagnosis of X/Y related syndromes such as the XXY Klinefelter syndrome, the XO Turner syndrome, Triple X (super female) syndrome and sex mosaicism. X/Y chromosome determination is also useful in Preimplantation Genetic Disorders (PGD) and in cases of X-linked heritable genetic diseases.
